ON THE ROCKS explores different ways of connecting with other persons, discovering the relationship and different kinds of (in)touch and how much is implied.
We try to grasp the complexity of human relationship that takes place at the level of our physicality, focusing on the notions of sensuality, touch, closeness and distance and the emotions that are evoked by them. And on a movement vocabulary that is not oriented towards perfection, but towards the rough edges, the imperfect.
The famous singer Francesco Rasi, who had sung the title role in Monteverdi's Orfeo in Mantua, came to the Salzburg court in 1612 and had dedicated the musical manuscript Musiche da camera e chiesa to Archbishop Markus Sittikus, who was passionately devoted to theatre and music. The first musical performance in the Stone Theatre, a pastoral, took place on 28 August 1617.
The performance was created for the SommerSZENE and conceived for the Steintheater Hellbrunn.
